Support in the Workplace

Onyx Support is a specialist support organisation providing Non-Medical Help (NMH) services through Access to Work (AtW). We support disabled people and those with physical or mental health conditions to overcome workplace barriers and thrive in employment.

We work in partnership with employees, employers, and Access to Work, delivering high-quality, flexible support across the UK. Our focus is on enabling individuals to work confidently, sustainably, and independently in their roles.

We support:​

  • Employees in paid work across a wide range of sectors

  • Individuals starting a new job or returning to work

  • Self-employed people

  • Apprentices in paid employment

  • Individuals accessing Communication Support at Interview (CSI)

  • People funded through Access to Work

  • Individuals accessing privately funded workplace support

We collaborate closely with:

  • Access to Work assessors and case managers

  • Employers and HR teams

  • Occupational health services

  • Line managers and workplace supervisors

  • Funding bodies and support coordinators

We provide nationwide support across the UK, including:

  • In-person support (where appropriate)

  • Online and remote support

  • Flexible delivery aligned with role and individual preferences

This allows us to support you in the workplace regardless of location or mode of study.

Funding Options

We offer support through multiple funding routes:

  • Access to Work (AtW)

For eligible individuals who require specialist support to start, stay in, or progress in employment.

  • Employer-Funded Support

Commissioned directly by employers to support workplace adjustments and inclusion.

  • Private Funding

For individuals who wish to access support independently.

Referral or Funding Confirmation

Employees are referred via Access to Work (AtW) following an award/approval, via an employer, or through a private enquiry.

We carefully match employees with a suitably qualified support worker based on their role, workplace environment, needs and preferences.

Depending on your assessment, support may focus on practical workplace strategies, communication, wellbeing, productivity and building confidence and independence at work.
